I've had my Bassman for 8 months now, hated it at first, but man does it get
better and better. Now one happy owner.
I can't get the volume above the upper curl of the '3' without feedback,
but this has only been a problem once (Big room). My settings are:

Volume 3
Treble 3
Middle 4
Bass 7
Presence depends

I cut the Bass if I'm booming, and add middle and presence for bite.
As mentioned, depends on the room.

My last amp was a solid state Fender Stage 185. Whilst some may laugh, I
could sound pretty much like anyone from Mark Ford to Rod Piazza through it
such was its range of sounds (one can mix channels to *great* effect). Also,
the difference between dynamic and crystal elements was very different -
I remember buying a Turner BX from Tom, and getting the William Clarke
sound like that (snaps fingers). Now I sound like a Bassman/Astatic player.
I have little idea why I flogged the Stage, I think
I was possibly overcome by the power of the 4 x 4 arrangement of the
Bassman, and, lets face it, the looks,

I SERIOUSLY recommend anyone to try the Stage 185. It's essential to mix
the two channels, since each channel on its own sounds poxy.
I'm sure to buy another one some time.
