Subject: Want a Big River gig?

I'm doing a run of the Broadway musical Big River next month, but
I can't make 3 of the 6 dates because I'll be at the SPAH
convention. Maybe someone on the list would like to do these
dates.

The dates in question are August 23, 24 and 25, and they're in
Palo Alto, California. Thre are also various rehearsals in the
weeks leading up to the performances (the dates I *am* doing are
August 16, 17 and 18).

I've worked with the conductor, Julie King, before, and like
working with her, so I took the gig even thought there's almost
zero money in it. This gig won't make you rich, but it's a fun
show to do, and it's a great learning experience to play in a pit
orchestra, following a baton, accompanying singers and live stage
action, and - - reading.

Actually, Rick Barker did this show for years wihtout reading;
it's certainly possible to do. There's an original cast album
tape that you an learn most of the music from, although there are
some bits of incidental music that aren't on the album.
