Last week I was in a music store in Kaiserslaturn Germany and saw this really neat Hohner harp. I had never seen one before. It was plastic with 4 well separated holes, a single brass plate with draw and blow reeds riveted to it. The blow draw sequence was the same as for the mid scale (C to C) of a standard C diatonic. Painted on the top was the scale (from C to C) with the blow draw sequence shown with arrows. I checked a few notes with my sons guitar tunning meter and it was right on. It looked like it came apart easy for cleaning. The cost 8.9 DM (about 5 USD).
It looked like a great teaching device, not only for harp but for music in general. Of course if you learn music quick it would only be good for an hour or so. But for initial learning of music and harp it looked really good to me. Of course maybe all of you experienced people are familiar with it. If so this is redundant.
I was looking for a cheap harp for my 2 year old grandson, so he would quite blowing all his milk and juice and cookie crumbs into mine. Needless to say he loved it. He probably liked the color to as it was a nice bright blue. My DIL (daughter in law) even picked it up and started picking tunes out on it and she hasn't played anything (never a harp) for 20 years.
Prost!
