Subject: Big River - the musical not the harp

Hi Folks,

I may have an opportunity to play in a local production of "Big River"
and I know there are others on the list who have played it before. I
really don't know much about it and I want to make sure I'm not in over
my head. I'm a very poor sight reader - will that matter? Is it all
diatonic? Do you play specific, written parts or is it mostly
improvisational?

I can read time fairly well (I used to play percussion in band) but the
notes come slowly. I'm pretty profficient on the diatonic but I can only
play chromatic well in a few keys.

It sounds like fun and I could even make some money. If anyone has any
insights into the technical demands, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Alec

P.S. - Are there any videos or recordings of this available? I can
figure songs out by ear very quickly, so maybe I could cheat.
