Subject: bending chro's

i'm not sure i understand exactly why it is one can't bend notes as easily on a chro as on a diatonic. is it the wind savers? do all chro's have that? couldn't you just take them off and solve the "problem" that way? or is it something to do with the note layout on chro's? or the air leakage? what?
