Dear all, a recent post discussed searching the archives. I've noticed other posts where beginners ask questions and are told rather sternly to not be so lazy and check the archives. There have also been references to people being 'flamed' for daring to ask a question about a thread that apparently takes up substantial space within the archive.
For sum people's info, a lot of stuff does not appear in an archive search. A search for CX 12 for 1999 displays nothing. give me some more time and I'll cum up with a lot of things that display nothing. This has happened to me quite a lot where people insist a thread has been dealt with substantially. Zilch.
Please do not take this the wrong way, this is in no way a criticism of the good people of harp-l and the management of the archive - a horrendous task I'm sure. I'm no trained propellerhead but deal with data searches on computer all day. Occurences of this nature are routine to me. I don't cry about it. I like to figure other ways to crack in.
This is more for the info of those who stomp on seemingly innocent enquiries. Sure, sum people might be lazy. Sum might not even know. But sum - like myself - have tried and found nothing.
BTW - I've never been flamed. I've had people try their best and fail. But flame? Never.
regards, jack
My momma told me, 'You can't handle the heat? Out of the kitchen, boy.'
Harp content - thanx fer all the responses. I've got my swag of LO's, have had 'em for awhile. I'll only be getting a Hohner if I'm caught short and desperate for a key. Somebody mentioned the manufacture of Hohners in china as being the cause. The last two I had that blew out were marked 'Made in Germany'
Also , thanks to the harper who posted the recent Walter Horton, 'Easy' tab. Sure was different to a recording I've got but was nicer in parts too.
