Subject: Re: Amp Conversion

Dan,
First of all, welcome to harp-l , and congratulations on your rekindled harp
flame...

Dan, my opinion with 10-inch speakers, (and certainly someone else will have
the technical stats and justifications) is that one 10 seems perfectly suited
to the tonal range of the harp, as is a four-10s setup. (So you have your
Champ and your Bassman configurations). 2 tens, to my ears is a much
"hotter", intense sort of thing, and doesn't seem to carry the deeper bass
tone with it. I had an old Music Man with two 10s once, and it was some kind
of screaming meltdown...(not that there's anything wrong with that)... Three
10s I've seen work well with harp - seems like Rod Piazza has used the
three-10s Bandmaster setup...but for me, either 1 or 4 ten-inch speakers does
it best.
