Subject: 7025 vrs 5751 JAN

Hi,

A few years ago, someone on this list
suggested trying 5751 pre amp tubes as
a replacement for 12AX7.

I bought a few Joint Army Navy (JAN)
5751 made by GE / USA.

These tubes have an amplification factor
of 70, compared to 100 for the 12AX7.

In 2 words, very smooth. The tone difference
is noticeable and the slightly lower gain
helps to control feedback. I like it so much
that I have switched the first pre amp tube in
all my mid sized and larger amps to 5751.
