Subject: re: 2 and 3

Does anyone have any advice on how to get cleanly, and move cleanly
between, any combination of the diatonic 2 and 3 holes (blow and draw).
I have no problem hitting the bends on either of these holes, but can't
figure out how to get the major notes, themselves, without getting a
smudgy pre-bend kind of sound. Seems like no amount of fiddling with
embouchure does the trick. I can slowly fade into them both (blow and
draw) but can't attack any of these 4 notes cleanly. The best result I
get is when I let air in through my nose, but this results in a weaker
tone. Any tricks of the trade I should be aware of? Particular
articulations I should be using? (Out of curiosity, why are these notes
so difficult? Does it have to do with the greater relative distance
between the draw and blow notes in these holes? Is there some unwelcome
secondary effect being produced by the interaction of both reeds?)

Cheers,
Glenn
