Subject: Re: Back to the Boutique amps...

Hello everyone, I've been in the hospital the last 3 1/2 weeks and am now
A.W.O.L. from there. Seems the list had enough to talk about without me! I'm
in a 2 room with a roomate, my harps and Tom Balls Sonny Terry Licks, It's
good to be someplace where I can practice and only have the nurses stick
there heads in to complement me, but there must be other places than
hospitals! The reason for this subject is there's a heavy metal guitar
player
on my floor and he got a Carvin Guitar catalog, which I've been reading.
There's an interesting all-tube amp in there, a 50 watt 2X12 tweed. Only
thing is I never heard of Carvin before. Reading the catalog you'd think
they're better than Fender and all other guitar and amp companies, but as my
Mom used to say, "every cat brags about it's tail." So I was wondering does
anybody on Harp-L have any experience with Carvin products? Tell me the good
and the bad. And what tube substitutions does it take to make these amps
sweet for Harp? I gotta be back soon, I'm taking Mel Bays Complete Chicago
Blues Harp with me!!!
