Subject: BLT vs. Dan Echo

There's been a thread going concerning Dan-Echo stomp boxes. I'd like to
mention a new Danelectro echo device. It's called simply "BLT" and it does
a great job for a much lower price.

It's a little blue stomp box that is meant to give a guitarist that
rockabilly slapback sound. It's obviously very limited as far as variations
are concerned, and the Dan Echo has many more possibilities. However, if you
just want to add that Chicago blues touch, it's ideal! Danelectro describe
the sound as "that 50's shower-room echo".

Apart from the on-off button, it has 2 simple controls - number of repeats
and mix, which controls how clear the echo is. The actual echo length is
factory-set, so you can't do anything with that, but set the number of
repeats on one and adjust your mix and wow, instant blues!

The limitations are actually an advantage, you find the right sound i no
time. After all, how many echo variations does a harpist really need? The
pedal is plastic and aluminium, but heavy enough to stay put on a stage. I
used it on a gig last weekend and it did the job just fine.

And the price? Well, bought in the US and including postage to Europe, the
price was less than a third of the Dan Echo price in the shops in Norway.
Not bad, eh? Danelectro's rrp in the States is $39 compared with the Dan
Echo at $129. Can't be bad!

The BLT is one of a whole series of simplified stomp boxes that Danelectro
introduced this summer. My guitarist has the tremolo model and loves it. So
why not check it out on Danelectro's web pages:

As usual, all disclaimers apply (if I worked for Danelectro I'd have an
awful long way to travel to work...)
