Subject: Buckeye - Part I

Hi Folks,

Buckeye was fantastic this year. I'd like to thank Jack Ely, Joe
Filisko and the Buckeye club for putting together this fabulous event.

As always, I had a blast hangin' out with all the wonderful people. I
know I'll inadvertently forget to mention some people and events, but
here are some random thoughts of what made Buckeye memorable:

Jamming with Tom Albanese, John Costa, Tomas Esparza, Steve Webb, FJM,
Beth Kohnen, Rich Rittenhouse in the hallway at 3:00 in the morning.

Hanging with Tom, Chris Michalek, Roscoe, and George brooks and laughin
with Buzz (well at him actually) as he ate his "special" cheese
sandwich.

Playing Bass (guitar) at the blues Jam and getting to be the "Rhythm
section" with such talented guitar players as Richard Sleigh, John
Costa, and Rob Paparozzi (that's right - it turns out that Rob's a darn
good guitar player, too :-) )

Meeting new friends like Barney Griswold, James Conway, Mario, Frank
James (I really enjoyed talking to you at Dinner.)

Hanging with old friends like Doug, Bobbie, Allen Holmes, Joe Filisko
and everyone mentioned above.

Having the hostess get lost twice and needing a map to find our table at
the maze-like Italian restaurant when I went to dinner with Tom and
Steve.

Trading Sopranos lines with Tom till 4:00 in the morning. :-)

Watching great performances. My favorites were: Rob Paparozzi (in my
opinion, the best total package in the business - great harp, great
singing, great showmanship, and most of all, infectious enthusiasm),
Frederick Yonnet (awesome diatonic player who put on an extremely
energetic show), Blackie Shackner (he's a total pro with a highly
polished, fun show), Yellow Pine (as someone already mentioned - Danny
Wilson is amazing!), and Steve Guyger (he is the real blues deal!)

I've gotta run - I'll post part II when I get a chance soon.

I learned a ton from guys like Joe Filisko, Rosco, Rob Paparozzi, Jimmy
Gordon and especially Allen Holmes and I'll talk about it later.
