These claims are outrageous! The ballyhoo about materials differences is
coming mostly from those who profit from the sale of harps containing exotic
materials. Airtightness and expert reed setup can help justify the higher
price of a custom harp. Metal combs may very well be worth a much higher
price for their dimensional precision and stability... but not for superior
tone.

Previous public blind comparisons at SPAH and Buckeye have established the
inability of listeners to hear the "subtle" differences in tone claimed for
differences in materials.

At SPAH01, there will be a public blind comparison to see if a harp player
can reliably distinguish one material from another. The player and I have a
$1000 bet on the outcome.
