Subject: Re: Amplification Question

Not harp related, but I thought I would ask if anyone on the list can shed
some light on the following problem:

A friend of mine has a bass rig consisting of a two-input stereo
preamp/power amp, a 2x10" cabinet (4ohms) and a 1x18" (8 ohm) cabinet. The
problem is that although the amp is bridgeable, each channel on the amp has
a separate input. Obviously he could just bridge the amps and chain the
cabinets in parallel, but the impedance mismatch will send most of the power
to the 2x10" cabinet (or will it?). He told me he tried a "Y" cord on the
input side, to no avail - no sound (should this work - in other words, did
he screw something up?) What should he do?
