Subject: Benefit Gig in Denver

Hi folks,

This isn't a last-minute self-promotion, but rather
a story for all performing harpsters to consider.

My band had a gig last night in Denver at a place
called Herman's Hideaway. We were booked well
before the terrorist attacks, and as the date
approached I realized my heart was jut NOT into
performing. Consequently I did little to promote
the gig to the my friends and "fans" who often come
out to support the band... *Sigh*

Yesterday afternoon I was informed that the gig
(three bands: Chronophonic, Two Beats too Many and
my band Jump Start), was to be a BENEFIT for the
Red Cross Foundation.

That little fact changed EVERYTHING for me! Wish I
knew sooner... I wouldda been more enthusiastic.

Anyway, it turned out the joint was packed to the
rafters and the two bands that went on before us
were both 8-piece jazz ensembles. Man were they
HOT! After the President's address to Congress
(which was shown on Bar's TV) the show started off
with the female vocalist singing the National
Anthem without accompaniment. Beautiful! Not a dry
eye in the house.

It was late by the time we went on (almost 11:00
pm), but the hard-cores who hung out got a good
show from us; and for me, personally, it FELT SO
GOOD to do something ~tangible~ with my harp to
help, if even in such a small way (we donated what
we would have been paid for the gig).

I encourage any performing harpists out there who
may be in a blue funk about playing (as I certainly
was) to get involved with some kind of benefit
show... It's done me a world of good!!

Harpin' again in Colorado,
