I wrote something correct but off-point about position
naming.

And I replied:

While this is correct, it's beside the point. In fact
Walter was playing in C on a C instrument. So it was
in fact first position. The fact that he had the slide
pressed in and was following the pathway of C as the
7th mode of Db makes no difference. The instrument was
in C, and the key was C, so it was first position.

However, when I wrote:

That was flat-out wrong. Db plays nothing like B under
any circumstance on a solo-tuned C instrument.
