My band is 'building a CD'. Recently we were re-mixing a group of songs. The first mix, admitted rough, left a lot be desired, to say the least. I was having a fit over my "Tone". It was thin, weak, awful, (shall I hit myself again?) I was prepare to just go back and redo vast parts. But then, my trusty recording engineer said before you go back and re-do, lets try this. He pulled up some software called AmpFarm. This program has, (I don't know how many, at least a dozen), digitized samples of classic tube amps. '59 Fender Bassman, Vox AC130, a Marshall, and many more. Whoa! what it did for the amplified "tone" was unbelieveable. This is a seriously cool piece of software. Now, I know its NOT a substitute for actually, really, finding the amp tone live. But it sure saved this session (and lotsa $$$). Any body ever heard of it? It makees me wonder if there is a version that could be used in a live setting. Imagine being able to switch through 20 different amps on stage.
