Brought this query up last year, or the year before. Would like to see what the new batch of beginners has to say:
What made you take up harmonica? Had you heard a particular style of music that had harp? Or did your curiosity about the instrument lead you to listen to harp music?
Was it sound? Portability and size? Cost?
The apparent ease / deceptive ease of learning to play? (I know I'm going to get in trouble for even suggesting this idea---but let's face it: it APPEARS to be easier to learn than a guitar. Whether it really is or not has been argued here to the point of trivia. Frankly, everything is argued here to the point of trivia. My question is What Did the Beginner See When S/He Picked Up a Harmonica.)
This could bring up a 2nd questions: Did you find the instrument to be as inexpensive or easy as you imagined? If you picked it up for a certain sound or type of music, did you stick with that type of music, or did you discover another you loved more, that expressed yourself?
OK, that's it. Open to pro's and long term fans as well, I guess. Why did you pick up the harp...and did that same reason keep you going?
