Subject: Re: Bees Wax

Hi Harp-L'ers

up until about a year and a half ago I had been sealing my custom Marine
Band
combs with bees wax. Steve Baker had told me he had heard that bees wax
makes an
excellent breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria. Now I seal the combs
with
a mixture of schellack and copal, which is much more work but the health
question is taken care of, and the finish is much more pleasing to the eye.
I
have been very reluctant to post this because several customizers use
beeswax,
and I didn't want to scare off potential orders for any of my colleagues out
there.

best regards

Tony Ramos
