Subject: re: cheap harps

O.K. - This is getting out of hand! Mojo Red has it right! If a $5/$10
dollar harp suits your needs - go for it!If you have to have the best
and can afford it then, by all means,do it.The bottom line is: try every
different harp you can and play the one you like best, and learn to do
basic setup and maintainence (gapping & tuning) yourself.I've had
Hohners,Huangs,Suzukis, and Herings that have lasted any where from 2
hours to 2 years and I play hard and often. The most consistent have been
the Oskars but they still have to be tweaked to individual tastes. My
experience with the Hohner MS series especially the Pro has been
generally good but, again, they need some setup before their potential
can be realized. No matter what you play, remember that an expensive harp
won't make up for poor technique. You will know when you're ready for the
high priced goodies.

Peace, Jeff

p.s. I just ordered a custom harp from Bob M. and I'm really looking
forward to playing it but I drive a '79 Chevy pickup and I know I won't
be able to afford a full set so I'll just enjoy it for what it is and
gig with standard harps.
