Subject: Kazoo Mods Part II

First of all thank you to all who sent the tube swap ideas and the links in
answer to my last post about my "new" Kazoo 1 amp. I have ordered a 12AT7
pre-amp tube as my first modification. Now, for my second mod I would like
to put a grounded cord on this baby. Unfortunately, I am quite ignorant
about capacitors and such. The web site that I have been given the link to
(from several of you -
http://www.rru.com/~meo/Guitar/Amps/Kalamazoo/Mods/Safe.html
) has instructions on doing just this, however, there seems to be some
differences in the schematic from mine.

The first problem is in de-energizing the big capacitors. He says to hook a
jumper from the "power tube plate (Tube V2, pin 7) to ground". I really
don't know where this is since it corresponds to nothing I can find inside
my amp. Can't these capacitors be drained by grounding one of the ends?
Which end is it? The 3 100uf caps in my amp have one lead going out one end
to ground and one going out another to various tube terminals.

Then, in actually hooking up the new power cable the instructions show some
of the wiring changed between the fuse, light and switch. Is it really this
difficult to do? Can't you just cut the leads and hook the power and neutral
leads up to the like wires of the old cord and then cut out the old
capacitor that hooks to the grounding lug and solder the green wire to that
lug? does it really require rewiring between the three? I'm sure someone on
this list has done this to either the Kazoo or another small tube amp.

Thanks,
/tim
