Subject: Re: Need Help (Shure 520DX Cable)

Hi Vince,

I've taken off the cable and substituted it by a Switchcraft thread-on
connector (item #2501, like those in old Astatics). Then I use a thread-on
to 1/4" female adapter (Switchcraft item #332A) to be able to use a
standard guitar cable to plug into the amp. The solution is robust and
dependable. I've been giggin' with it ever since and had not a problem.
Also, I think it is the most user-friendly solution, just plug-in/plug-out.
The only thing to worry about is that it takes a little "surgery"/soldering
labour to install the connector in the mic and solder the cables to it. Ask
your local Switchcraft distributor for the parts. The adapter is the most
expensive of the two pieces, but I think it's worth to spend the money on
it and avoid user-unfriendly thread-on cables...;)

Regards,

David
